No. Metalmorfik is a real metal surface.
What is metal veneer?
Metal veneer is a thick metal covering over a substrate.
To what can the metal veneer be applied?
Virtually any surface that has been properly prepared can be veneered.
Is the veneer flexible?
It can be.
Can I send my light fixture to you for coating?
We can apply a new metal veneer to your light fixture. Consult the metal gallery for sample colors and finishes.
Will the veneer wear off?
The finished surface has been created using the same techniques as a solid metal object (Sanding, buffing and polishing). The veneer is much thicker than surfaces that have been painted, plated, or gilded.
Will the surface tarnish?
The metal surface will react to its environment in the same manner as any metal of its type. The surface is solid metal and will act like solid metal. We apply clear coating or waxes to protect the surface when necessary.
How hard is the surface?
It will depend on the specific metal.
Can the surface be repaired?
Yes, the surface can be repaired. The degree to which the repair matches the existing surface will depend on the metal, texture, finish and patina. A repair to stainless steel refrigerator door will be different as compared to a repair to bronze sculpture.
Will the surface scratch?
Each metal has a different hardness. An aluminum door will scratch easier than a stainless steel door. We have a hard clear coat that can be applied to areas of heavy wear.
Can the veneer be removed?
The veneer can be removed by mechanical abrasion such as sand blasting or grinding.
Can the veneer be painted over?
Yes, if properly prepared.
Can I polish the surface?
Yes. Standard metal polishes will work.
